Zanzibar

Zanzibar has a magnificent array of cultural activities. With a mesmerising mix of influences from the Indian subcontinent, the Arabian Peninsula, the African mainland and Europe, there is an activity for everyone.

Take a food and spices tour, the old Stone Town tour or relax on one of Zanzibar’s finest beaches along its spectacular coastline – you really are spoiled for choice!

Culture

Zanzibar is home to people from across the world, and it is this diversity that makes it such a unique travel destination. This cultural convergence can be seen in the diversity of the region’s food, in the polyglot nature of the Swahili language that was born here, and in the distinct architectural styles that exist side by side in Stone Town.

Zanzibar’s distinct charm is a result of its years of cross-cultural exchange, and it’s all the more charming for this jumble of cultures, beliefs, and languages.

Weather and Currency

Straddling the equator, there is little year-round fluctuation in temperature. The hottest months are January and February when the average daytime range is 24-33°C (52-91°F) with peaks of up to 40°C/104°F in the far north. The south has two Wet seasons: from mid-September to November and March to May, but it can really rain at any time. The north has one continuous Wet season from March to November and a more obvious Dry season from December to February.

Currency

The currency in Uganda is the Ugandan Shilling (UGS) and the USD is widely accepted as well. Most Hotels and tour operators accept Mastercard and Visa credit and debit cards
